wpyhtnaj.jpgThe Salt Marsches-The salt marsches where Baesuris sea salt and flower of salt is harvested from are located within the boundaries of a natural reserve, the Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim, a natural reserve that by it0s natural values is considered as a Special Protection Area, Natura 2000Network and international Importance Wetlands (Ramsar Convention).

Sea Salt- Baesuris sea salt is free of addictives and anti baking products and keeps the great majority of minerals and trace elements present in sea water. It is especially rich in magnesium, an element of almost importance for the enzymatic reactions in our metabolism.

Flower of Salt-Flower of salt is a very thin layer of crystals of sea salt formed at the surface of the salt ponds, collected manually with the aid of a special tool. It is a product of natural purity, cracking and with a subtle taste, considered by the connoisseurs as the cream of the sea salt, the best seasoning for grilled fish or meat, boiled vegetables or salads. Shopping aficionados should look out for an interesting shop in the Centro Comercial Picoas that specialises in cork products. The shop sells handbags, belts, sandals, cigar cases and – maybe hard to believe - even clothes, for example jackets and waistcoats in a generally appealing design. The shop is definitely worth a visit and certainly should feature top of the list of souvenirs from Portugal.

Santos: Distrito do Desenho

barcelona_chair.jpgThis is a new initiative of various design-, decoration and furniture shops around the Largo Vitorino Damasio in the district Santos. Over the last few years, designer shops have increasingly settled in this area. The scene actually stretches from the Museu Naçional de Arte Antiga to the Largo de Santos and the Largo Vitorino Damasio, where a cool café opened a short while ago. Not far away is a fairly weird building - the IADE, the Academy for Design and Marketing. Timing seems ideal, as a larger project by the British star architect, Sir Norman Foster, is planned right behind this academy.
